Education
Jason was born and raised in Dubuque, Iowa. Jason relocated from Dubuque to Cedar Falls, Iowa, to attend the University of Northern Iowa. Jason graduated from University of Northern Iowa with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology. While at the University of Northern Iowa, Jason was a teaching assistant for criminal justice classes. In addition to obtaining his Bachelors Degree and with the future intent of studying law, Jason completed internships with the Cedar Falls Police Department and the Blackhawk County District Attorney’s Office. After graduating from the University of Northern Iowa with a Bachelors Degree in Criminology, Jason obtained his Juris Doctorate at Thomas M. Cooley Law School. While completing his legal studies, Jason completed an internship with the prestigious law firm of Fraser, Trebilcock, Davis, Dunlap, P.C. In addition, Jason was on the Dean’s List multiple semesters and received the certificate of merit, the highest award given in a single class, in Law Office Management. Each year, Jason completes requisite Continuing Legal Education (CLE) classes to better assist his clients, including being an annual attendee of the State Bar of Nevada Family Law Convention. Jason has also completed a 44-hour custody/divorce/domestic violence mediation seminar at UNLV and a 20-hour Parenting Coordinator seminar to better assist his clients in November 2012.
Work Experience
After graduating from Thomas M. Cooley Law School and passing the Nevada Bar exam, Jason relocated from Michigan to Las Vegas, Nevada. Since passing the Nevada Bar, he has focused primarily in the area of family law. Jason has litigated many issues including: contested divorce, child custody, child support, alimony, adoptions, and termination of parental rights. His experience in family law has been invaluable to his clients. Jason’s knowledge, together with his compassion and understanding, provides his clients with the perfect combination to meet their legal and emotional needs. In 2006, Jason was honored with the Louis P. Weiner Award for his contribution to pro bono work for victims of domestic violence. Repeatedly since passing the bar, Jason has completed legal community service each and every year as well as was involved in the “Ask a Lawyer” program at Family Court. Jason is an active participate in many Clark County Bar Association activities. In 2009, he was honored as the president of Mediators of Southern Nevada. He also was involved with a Court mentoring/truancy diversion program at various schools in Clark County and has been active in that program for several years as part of the Eighth Judicial District Court. Jason also is a Pro Tem Hearing Master for the Las Vegas Justice Court resolving small claims matters. He has conducted evidentiary hearings while sitting on the bench. He is also a Traffic Court referee for Justice Court. He also is a Pro Tem Hearing Master for Child Support Court for Clark County. Jason enjoys his time on the bench serving Clark County.
